“Writing is still hard for me. I start all of my classes with that sentence: “Writing is hard.” But I like writing, and there are kinds of writing that I’m pretty good at. There are also kinds of writing I’m not so good at. I’m pretty sure I cannot freestyle rap; I’m pretty sure that I’m not going to be the next person to compose opera lyrics, but I’m a pretty good writer of academic stuff. And I like doing that.”
Shelley Reid is currently Director for Teaching Excellence at the Stearns Center for Teaching and Learning, and also teaches a range of courses for the English Department on writing, the teaching of writing, and writing program scholarship.
