“In science, there are different kinds of writing. If you are explaining the data you have, you want to strip away the individual’s voice and minimize flourishes and style. But if you are trying to communicate ideas, you want to be clear and concise and very specific. It might come off really dry, but it’s important that you say the right things. The language really gestures towards true objectivity, more so than in English writing.”
