Writers of Mason: Laura Todd

Todd, Laura

“Well, they always say you should write about what you know, but I think you also need to push yourself, too. You need to sometimes try to put yourself in another a person’s shoes and if you can’t do that, then find a way to, to be in that person’s shoes.  […]  And I really think that that’s key to always developing yourself.  Whether it’s here at a job and you’re trying to find new ways to expand yourself with professional growth…as a writer, professional growth is trying to figure out ways to write about things that you don’t know about. Learning, putting yourself in those places…so like I said, the oldest advice is write about what you know, but you also need to figure out how to write about what you don’t know.”

Laura Todd is the New Online Projects Coordinator in the Stearns Center for Teaching and Learning.
