I guess my initial reaction is that I wouldn’t think that I am a good writer.  I think I struggle mainly with grammar and writing syntax, in terms of structure. But I feel comfortable writing in a way that gets people to understand in a personal way and in that sense, I think I’m successful.  It took me a while to realize the difference. I think when I was younger, I struggled; I think writing and reading were my more difficult subjects for me. I had a hard time with spelling and sentence structure, so I had a lot of remedial classes. So I had a lot of self-confidence issues with writing. It wasn’t until I got older that I realized that I can write how I want to write, or with a voice that’s my own voice and still feel comfortable, and not worry so much about the spelling and grammar, and still be an effective writer.”
