“I think what’s hard for any writer is learning to let go..so the manuscript goes from 400 pages to 200 pages. You have to let go of a lot of stuff. That’s hard and you take an editor’s recommendations, but you still have to push yourself to think what stays and what goes. How do you rework it in a way that it still makes the argument”
