Among the accomplishments of which Mason is proud is the culture of writing that has been created and fostered over the years by faculty, academic departments, and higher administration, all of whom share a commitment to student writers and writing in disciplines. The Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education notes, "Writing Across the Curriculum, which has brought Mason such positive national recognition, serves as the model—one could almost say the rubric—for a series of other 'Across the Curriculum' initiatives that, together, are moving us toward a more coherent approach to the undergraduate curriculum."
