Writing Intensive (WI) syllabi were collected and reviewed in 1996 as part of Phase Three assessment. As a result of that review, the Faculty Senate recommended that all Writing Intensive syllabi include a description of how the course fulfills the Writing Intensive requirement. Periodic reviews of Writing Intensive syllabi help the WAC Committee determine whether there have been changes in the courses designated as Writing Intensive, whether faculty are complying with Senate guidelines for working with writers and writing in Writing Intensive courses, and whether these guide-lines are being clearly articulated to students in the syllabus.
